Fruit you’ll see in your Cubes this summer

We’re spoilt for choice in South Africa with delicious summer fruit varieties and you can look forward to easy-to-eat, snack-size options in your Fruit Cubes for the season.

Here’s what you have been receiving and what you can look forward to during summer:

 

Red grapes at The Fruit CubeRed and white grapes

The crispy, juicy, red and white grapes you’ll receive are much loved for their sweet taste. Packed with antioxidants, they are perfect bites of goodness in your day, giving you some vitamin C, vitamin K and a little potassium too.

The polyphenols found in grapes have been linked to a possible reduced risk of heart disease and may support a healthy heart by promoting relaxation of blood vessels to help maintain healthy blood flow and function.

Nectarines and peaches

Stone fruit is synonymous with summer and is a tasty source of B-complex vitamins. Eating a nectarine also gives you some of your daily beta-carotene, which plays a role in maintaining a healthy-looking skin.

Did you know? Cling peaches, which we see in the new year, are slightly firmer than dessert peaches and the flesh clings to the stone, whereas dessert peaches are soft and juicy and come off the stone a lot more easily.

Plums

There are a variety of plums that become available throughout summer with lovely names like Sunkiss and Southern Bell. You’ll see plums with skins and flesh ranging from yellow to white to red to purple that are the perfect sweet treat with a great dose of vitamin C to help improve iron absorption from your meals.

Bananas

Loaded with magnesium and potassium, bananas are a great source of energy and a firm favourite for our Fruit Cube customers.

Top Red, Starking, Royal Gala, Honey Crunch, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Beaumont…everyone has their favourite. By keeping the skin on when you eat your apple, you’ll benefit from the increased fibre intake. Slice and top with peanut butter or other nut butters for a deliciously well-balanced snack.

Apricots

The rich antioxidants in apricots make them a great snack at the office. They are particularly jam-packed with vitamin A, which doubles up as an antioxidant.
